The art trail offers insights into Dangast's artistic past on 21 picture panels.

Dangast's important time as an artists' town began with the stay of the Brücke painter Karl Schmidt-Rottluff in 1907. Companions such as Erich Heckel, Max Pechstein and Emma Ritter joined them. Their time in Dangast did not end until 1912. In 1921 Franz Radziwill visited Dangast for the first time and in 1923 he settled here permanently. Trude Rosner-Kasowski, born in Strehlen / Silesia, followed in 1955 to the artists' village of Dangast. The artist Willy Hinck also lived in Dangast until his death in 2002. At the end of the 1970s the sculptor Anatol Herzfeld - draftsman, painter and caricaturist - discovered Dangast and realized his diverse artistic ideas here. His work of art "Jade" still stands steadfastly against the tides in the mudflats in front of the Dangaster Kurhaus beach, next to the Kaiserstuhl by Butjatha and the phallus of the sculptor Eckart Grenzer.

From the East Frisian Islands in the North Sea to the inland stretches a landscape that couldn't be more varied. Flanked by the maritime towns of Emden and Wilhelmshaven, the East Frisian peninsula encompasses the UNESCO Wadden Sea World Heritage Site, in the middle of which lie the seven North Sea islands, lined up like a pearl: Borkum, Norderney, Juist, Spiekeroog, Langeoog, Baltrum and Wangerooge.

You can actively explore the region on a cycling holiday or while hiking in East Frisia. For sports enthusiasts, the North Sea beaches and bathing lakes offer numerous options. A holiday with the dog, on the farm or with the family can also be a great experience. There are numerous sights from the North Sea to the Ammerland park and garden landscape.

Wonderful day trip, easy to ride, beautiful route along the Jade-Ems canal and back along the dyke. Unfortunately the last bridge in WHV is closed due to construction work. Here you have to take a small detour.
