In July 2021, torrential rain caused flooding in the Ahr Valley. 135 people drowned, and the water destroyed 60 of the 112 bridges. More than 3 years later, the Wiederaufbau is still far from complete. The mountains of rubble and mud banks have been cleared, but there is (still) no talk of a ‘delta plan’.
