The market place in Weimar is called Markt and since about 1300 one of the most important public spaces of the city. With the Renaissance buildings of the Ostzeile of the market, which are listed as a complete ensemble on the list of World Heritage by UNESCO and other buildings such as the Town Hall, this is an important place and continues to be used for markets and festivals (Wikipedia).
