"in 1370, the Sandomierz region was plundered by Lithuanian troops led by princes Algirdas and Kiejstut. Legend has it that when the Lithuanian troops, after plundering the monastery on the Holy Cross, were returning along the so-called Brody route towards the Vistula River crossing, a cart carrying the stolen relics of the Holy Cross got stuck in a place known today as Zapadale Doły. It could not be moved, and misfortunes began. Only when the Lithuanians decided to return the relics did all their misfortunes end1."
