The dry climate of the desert is caused by the location of mountain ranges around the Tabernas Desert: as a result of rising rains, the water vapour in the air precipitates on these ranges and does not reach the desert. To the north of the desert lies the Sierra de los Filabres and to the south of the desert lies the Sierra de Alhamilla. Further away lie the Sierra Nevada and the Sierra Gador. Every year, many people get lost in the Tabernas Desert. Once you are in the middle of the desert, everything looks the same and the enormous heat can quickly get you into trouble. If you want to visit difficult to reach film locations in the Tabernas Desert, it is recommended to do so with a guide. (Or use the komoot route planning)
