The water palace 'Taman Soekasada Ujung' south of Amlapura city was built by the last Raja of Karangasem in 1919. This was the royal family's garden and was used to receive guests. ‘Taman Soekasada Ujung’ was badly damaged by the occupiers during the Second World War. The Gunung Agung volcanic eruption in 1963 and the earthquake in 1975 almost completely destroyed the park. The government and royal family of Karangasem reconstructed the water palace and restored it to its former glory. From the highest point of the water palace complex there are magnificent views of the sea, hills with green forests and the Gunung Agung volcano to the northwest. orientalarchitecture.com/sid/1686/indonesia/karangasem-regency-bali/taman-ujung-water-palace
