The Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark) was formed on 1 January 2010 from the formerly independent municipalities Beuster, Geestgottberg, Losenrade and the Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark). On 01 September 2010, the community Schönberg was incorporated.
The municipality currently has 5,177 inhabitants. The total area is 106.99 km ², resulting in a population density of 48 inhabitants per km ².
The coat of arms was approved on April 28, 1995 by the regional council Magdeburg. Blazon "In silver, a golden armored red eagle with his tongue out, the catches accompanied by a green leaf of sea." The coat of arms with the Brandenburg Eagle was created in the 13th century. On a document of 1353 he wears gold breasts with shamrock ends. The meaning of the Seeblätter is not clear, since there was no lake near the city. Perhaps the location on the glacial valley of the Elbe and the frequent flooding caused by floods in the past centuries were the reason for the inclusion of the Seeblätter.
The flag was approved on 8 February 2000 by the regional council Magdeburg. The flag is red-white-red (1: 4: 1) striped with the coat of arms of the city.
To the Hanseatic city of Seehausen (Altmark) belong the districts: Behrend, Beuster, Geestgottberg, Losenrade and Schönberg.
