The view goes over the tranquil harbor to Aland and the Elbwiesen with a variety of birds, depending on the season.
We were here in the fall and had red and yellow leaves that inspired us.

Attention: If you're planning on taking the ferry from Schnackenburg, at the moment (19.10.2020) it's not operating due to a defect!!!

Unfortunately, they haven't updated the website and phone calls are not answered either so I had to find out by asking around in the local museum.

Pretty little harbor in Lüchow-Dannenberg's smallest town. Shortly after the port, the Aland river flows into the Elbe. There is a wooden observation tower in the harbor, from which one has a beautiful overview of the Elbe and the Schnackenburger Elbe Valley. The port is located in the triangle of three countries: just behind the port is the state border between the federal states of Lower Saxony and Saxony-Anhalt, the other (northern) side of the Elbe belongs to the state of Brandenburg. Behind the harbor (just before the Aland confluence with the Elbe) you can cross the Elbe by ferry (by car, bike or on foot).
