The San Gottardo pass is an Alpine pass located at 2106 meters above sea level, between the Canton of Ticino and the Canton of Uri. It is one of the most important passes for the connection between the north and south of the Alps and its name derives from an 11th century Bavarian bishop, Saint Gotthard of Hildesheim.
