Gorman Chairback Lodge & Cabins were originally built as a private camp in 1867, but have since been taken over and managed by the AMC as an amazing place for outdoor enthusiasts to stay deep in the heart of Maine's 100-Mile Wilderness. In the summer, the lodge offers a perfect launching pad for hikers, trail runners, mountain bikers, and fly-fishing enthusiasts (for the lodge is surrounded by lakes and rivers, including Long Pond). There are complimentary canoes, kayaks, and paddleboards for guests to use. In the winter, the lodge transforms into a winter wonderland, boasting 35 miles of groomed cross-country ski and snowshoe trails.
