Bodie is a true Ghost-town, with dishes left on the tables, lessons left on school desks, and drinks abandoned in the saloons it seems as if everyone disappeared at once. And that's pretty much what happened. After its founding as a mining town Bodie experienced decades of success before a series of fires laid waste to the settlement. After the final fire got roaring the inhabitants fled to safety and never returned.
