As we enter Bao Dai's summer palace in Dalat, we are transported back to an era of luxury and opulence. This palace tells a story about Vietnam's complex modern history, from the French colonial period to the last Vietnamese monarchy. It offers a unique insight into the life of Vietnam's last emperor, Bao Dai, and his family, who lived here in the 1930s.
The building was constructed between 1933 and 1938 as a summer palace in the Art Deco style for the last Vietnamese emperor, Bao Dai. With its 25 rooms, it served as both residence and workplace, and today, with its well-preserved royal apartments, it is a popular tourist attraction.
