Historic Town Hall - the cornerstone once served as a pillory - still recognizable by the chain. In front of it the small market square with the market fountain. The cobblestone pavement and the other surrounding historic buildings give it a certain charm.
The city of Schriesheim lost its city rights after 1470 due to war and conquest. The community received it back on its 1200th anniversary in 1964. The city fountain shown in the picture was created for this occasion. This was built according to the plans of the Freiburg cathedral builder Sepp Jacob. The fountain, made of red Main sandstone, was designed with numerous old craft scenes on its eight-sided trough.
