Kegety pass is a big, tough climb with very little tarmac. It's an excellent way of crossing the mountains south of Bishkek and making your way into the Tian Shan mountains. It's long been a Kyrgyz off-road touring classic, popular with mountain bikers from Russia and further afield. You'll start the climb in the heat of the plains, heading up the valley through forests before topping out in a rocky landscape at around 3800m. The track gets pretty rough near the top and the descent requires some caution. It will quickly let you know what you're getting yourself into with the SRMR.
