A castle once stood on this hill - Owenbuhel Castle. It was first documented in 1140. Between the years 1140 and 1190 the location was abandoned by the Lords of Owen (Auen). They built the Eselsburg near Ensingen and moved there. In the forest you can still clearly see the deep ditch and the castle hill. There are a few holes and ditches around the abandoned castle. These come from the mining of lead ore to produce ammunition from around 1596.
