A fairly easy mountain for a hike, with a great all-round view. When the weather is clear, you can see the Adriatic from the small chapel on the summit. On the opposite side you can see the Julian Alps. The 2,244 m high Krn in Slovenia can also be seen from here. I have been to Matajur twice. There were only a few hikers on both tours in summer.
