Wilhelm Deuß was born on July 3rd, 1827 in Krefeld, the son of a baker and bartender at Schwanenmarkt. The Deuss Temple was built in 1901. Today's 120-hectare city forest was donated to the city by the Krefeld silk manufacturer Wilhelm Deuss (1827 to 1911) - with the requirement to create a local recreation area. The Düsseldorf garden architect Fritz Rosorious then created a high-quality landscape garden, which the people of Krefeld call "Stadtwald" - although it is a beautiful park.
In memory of the founder of the city forest, the silk manufacturer Wilhelm Deuß (*1827 - †1911), the 6.5m high round temple was built in 1913, which protrudes into the pond with its semicircular parapet. A simple relief inside reminds us of the founder.
