With a height of 60.6 meters, the water tower is one of the taller water towers in the Netherlands.
From the ground floor you get an excellent impression of the cathedral height and the twelve impressive concrete columns that form the skeleton of the tower. The water tower is designed as an exhibition space on the ground floor. In particular, exhibitions are organized here that focus on nature.
Are you sportive? Then take your chance and climb the 264 steps to the top where you have a beautiful view of Zeeuws-Vlaanderen.
The tower can be climbed via an indoor staircase. Above the first leaking floor at a height of 28 meters, there is a 300 m³ water reservoir that can be viewed via a walkway. From the second floor, at a height of approximately 50 metres, you have a beautiful view of the Axel creeks and the surrounding landscape and recreational area. At this height one also gets an impression of the size of the two upper reservoirs, which together have a capacity of 1,000 m³. There is also a clean water cellar of 250 m³. The whole is covered by a 10 meter high concrete shell that is clad on the outside with copper. The oxidized copper is the cause of the green-colored top of the tower.
