The church in Hardheim, completed in 1894, has the affectionate nickname “Erfataldom” due to its astonishing size. At that time, the imposing church replaced a predecessor building that was in danger of collapsing and today it largely determines the townscape. The Erfataldom was built in the neo-Romanesque style by the residents of Hardheim - the local priest at the time apparently had a knack for motivating his congregation to build it.
