A hammer forge was founded here in 1863. Since the ironworks could no longer be operated economically, a glassworks was founded in 1888. The hut was closed in 1920 and revived again in 1930. Initially only window glass was produced. Later there was a switch to lighting and decorative glass. In the 1950s the factory was Europe's largest manufacturer of lighting glass and employed around 200 people. The hut was taken over by Orrefors in 1974 and closed in 1979.
