The Malesbroek is part of the Grote Netewoud nature reserve in Geel and Meerhout and is located north of the church village of Winkelomheide. It measures 100 ha and lies in the valley of the Grote Nete, just before the confluence with the Molse Nete. The reserve is managed by Natuurpunt.

At the center of the area is a shallow lake that was created as a result of peat extraction at the start of the 20th century. In addition to the large pond, there are many smaller ponds that are surrounded by swamps. There are also hay and meadows that are surrounded by wooden walls. (Wikipedia)
