    In 1973, the train service was discontinued for economic reasons and in protest of the population. The passenger traffic was replaced by buses. In the following years, the tracks were dismantled to this section and established a bike path. Some of the old railway buildings along the route are now used as residential buildings.

        BahnRadWeg - Route A:
        The former railway line of the EBOE Bad Oldesloe - Grabau - Henstedt-Ulzburg
        Length: 27 km
        Opening of the railway line: June 9, 1907
        Closure of the railway line: September 30, 1973
        Expansion as a cycle path: around 1990

        This route begins in the spa park of Bad Oldesloe. If you arrive by train, it is only a few hundred meters to the spa park. By car you can easily park at the Kurparkstadion (Street "Am Kurpark").

        From Bad Oldesloe, route A leads via Blumendorf and Grabau in the Stormarn district and then in the Segeberg district via Sülfeld, Nahe and Wakendorf II to Henstedt-Ulzburg.

        The cycle path ends in Henstedt-Ulzburg, just a short distance from the train station. Here you have, among other things, a train connection to Hamburg again.
        On this route you can cycle in a really relaxed way with beautiful views of the surrounding nature.

          At the junction with the B75 there is a Danish milestone from 1840. In 1840 the Kingdom of Denmark had the road from Altona (then still an independent town in Holstein) to Lübeck expanded as a military road. Why Denmark? The Danish king was duke of Schleswig and Holstein at this time. The national affiliation was complicated, however, because the duchies were also part of the German Confederation. After the German-Danish War (1864), the duchies of Holstein, Schleswig and Lauenburg were annexed by Prussia (1867) and combined as the province of Schleswig-Holstein.
