The Gardetta plateau is the crossroads of the Maira, Stura and Grana valleys. In 2001 it was recognized as an Italian geological heritage site and is crossed by former dirt military roads, perfectly maintained and passable with gravel bikes and mountain bikes. On the plateau there are the ruins of many fortification systems dating back to the Second World War.
