Jörg Hofmann (* around 1660 as Johann Georg Hofmann or Hoffmann; † May 15, 1714 in Zeil am Main)[1] was an important carpenter and woodcarver during the Baroque period in the Upper Mainland. He was known above all for his perfectly formed, artistic works, which went far beyond craftsmanship.[2] Around the time of Jörg Hofmann's lifetime, there were five other Jörg Hofmanns in Zeil, one of whom was a well-known stone sculptor. Contrary to what is often read in specialist literature, according to recent research from the 1990s, these are definitely two different people. The most commonly cited year of death, 1734[3] is that of the stone sculptor.

The half-timbered house is particularly worth seeing, it was built in 1689 in the Renaissance style and shows the typical frightening masks to ward off evil spirits. You can read that on the sign.
