Šostýn Castle was built at the end of the 13th century. In the 15th century it was besieged and conquered. It was burned and demolished and left abandoned. In the middle of the 19th century the chateau was owned by the Rašk family. A mansion and a pottery workshop were built from the remains. Today the ruin consists of two curtain walls with moats, the foundations of a cylindrical tower, the remains of a massive palace and its partially reconstructed cellars.
