Wierzbno is a small village today, but in the Middle Ages it was a town. The square in the center of the village, right next to the church, is the former town square. Wierzbno is one of the oldest settlements in the Pyrzyce region. It was mentioned already in 1186. In 1321, the village was bought by the Cistercians from Kołbacz and its development began from then on. Already in 1300, Wierzbno was treated as a town, although it is not known when it really received city rights. It is known that in 1564, when Wierzbno came under the rule of the Duchy of Pomerania, duke Barnim IX confirmed the city rights. In 1701, Wierzbno lost its town rights and as a village was incorporated into the Kingdom of Prussia.
In the place of the former market square, today we will find a roofed place to rest and an empty square.
