The pass, at an altitude of 843 meters above sea level, was until a few centuries ago the only transit route between the Giudicarie Esteriori and Trento. Legend has it that at this point Adilberto di Castel Toblino was treacherously killed by Graziadeo da Campo, on his way to an amorous rendezvous with Ginevra, the beautiful castellan of Castel Stenico.
