The Nicolai Tower (sorb. Mikławska wěža) is a gate tower and part of the northern city fortifications of the city of Bautzen.

The Nikolaitor at its foot is the only entrance to the city that is still fully preserved in its original form.

Since 2011, the tower has housed the permanent exhibition "The Via Regia in the Bautzener Land".

The capstone is supposed to represent the stone-carved head of the town clerk Peter Preischwitz, who probably tried to betray the town to the Huseiten in 1429. Then brought to his just punishment, dragged through the streets to the place of execution, his body was first cut open, his heart ripped out and his face beaten, then his body, cut into four parts, was hung on the four main bastions on the city side.
His head is said to have been attached to the Nicolaitor for a very long time.

The Nikolaifriedhof is located in and around the ruins of the St. Nikolai Church. In 1634 the church burned down in a town fire and has been a ruin ever since. The cemetery chapel was built in the middle of the 18th century and the church ruins were released as a burial place.
