A beautiful, well-kept garden area, which is worth a small detour. Pilgrims on the Cologne/Trier pilgrimage route get a stamp here. You can stay and eat in the Maria Rast house, but both only by prior arrangement. There is also a small art and bookshop where you can buy cards, candles and books, for example.

Max von Mallinckrodt commissioned the construction of the manor house, completed in 1899, according to his own plans. It was intended as a counterpart to Wachendorf Castle, which belonged to his brother, Paul von Mallinckrodt. The manor house was named Haus Broich after the field name of the surrounding land. The estate also included the nearby Broicherhof farmstead, above whose gate the von Mallinckrodt family coat of arms is displayed.

On New Year's Eve 1944/45, the property was so severely damaged in a bombing raid that it became uninhabitable. In 1947, the heir, Gerd von Mallinckrodt, sold the ruined buildings to the Secular Institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary, who established an educational center on the grounds. The manor house was rebuilt, and new buildings were added alongside it. Source: Wikipedia
