The drinking fountain was built in 1986 to commemorate the Coburg original "Alexander Otto", called Gurken Alex. The construction was supported by a donation from the Coburg Narhalla. The fountain column is by Egon Ruggaber, the figure by Hr. Kohler based on a design by H.W. Wittman.
