Meditation trail between Oberschönenfeld and Weiherhof.
The chronicle of the Oberschönenfeld Abbey reports that at the end of the 12th century women in Oberhofen, today's Weiherhof, united for a pious life and then moved to Oberschönenfeld in 1211. The two towns formed a unit until secularization in 1803. The Weiherhof and Oberschönenfeld were reunited through a donation in 2012.
This gave rise to the idea of representing this connection through a meditation path. Sister Emmanuela Köhler from Oberschönenfeld Abbey created a concept with twelve wooden steles that show various guiding principles such as "Beginne", "Silence", "Listen"... Words of the Cistercian Abbot Bernhard von Clairvaux encourage you to delve deeper into the topics.
The artistic execution was in the hands of the wood artist Markus Brinker from Ustersbach, volunteers supported the project, which was managed by the Friends of Oberschönenfeld e. V. took over.
This new meditation path is around three kilometers long and leads along the edge of the forest in the Schwarzachtal. It should help to get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life and lead to reflection on oneself and on the relationship to one's neighbor and finally to God. Information boards at the abbey and at the Weiherhof as well as flyers provide information on how to get started.
