In terms of area, it is one of the largest airfields in Hesse and is approved for gliders, motor gliders, ultralight aircraft and a few motorized aircraft. Four different launch directions can be used depending on the wind conditions. Each take-off direction has two 900m long runways for winch or aerotow launches and two runways, with the runway facing away from the runways also being used as a powered runway.

Each take-off direction has two 900m long take-off tracks for winch or aircraft tow starts and two runways, whereby the runway facing away from the take-off tracks is also used as a motor flight track.
