Mannheim/Ludwigshafen - Konrad Adenauer Bridge 🚴‍♂️

The Konrad Adenauer Bridge connects the cities of Mannheim and Ludwigshafen across the Rhine. It is the older of the two bridges connecting the two urban areas. The Kurt Schumacher Bridge is located about 1,200 meters further north. The federal states of Baden-Württemberg and Rhineland-Palatinate border each other in the middle of the Rhine. Today's bridges are located roughly at the location of Mannheim's oldest bridges across the Rhine.

There are three different structures, located side by side. The northern bridge is a road bridge with a tram track with two tracks in the middle. To the right and left of it are the carriageways with two lanes in each direction. Cycle and pedestrian paths are located on the outer sides. The middle bridge, a steel truss bridge, serves railway traffic. Since 1999, an arched bridge for S-Bahn traffic has completed the entire structure on the south side. 🚴‍♂️

If you want to go from L'hafen to Mannheim's market square, for example, the shorter and easier option is via the southern part of the bridge - and with the gate open, take a shortcut through the castle courtyard.
