Camping at Bearpaw Meadow offers one of the most scenic and cushiest overnight stops along the High Sierra Trail. Located about 11.5 miles from Crescent Meadow, it is a popular first night destination. Sitting at at 7,800 feet, Bearpaw Meadow Camp offers two camping options: First, the Bearpaw Meadow Campground, which is a more "standard" backcountry campsite with established tent sites, a bear box for food storage, and access to shared water spigot, which must be boiled or treated before drinking. Due to its popularity, securing a spot early in the day is recommended, especially during peak season (July–September). The second camping option here is the Bearpaw High Sierra Camp, which is a privately operated camp featuring canvas tent cabins, hot meals, and comfortable beds. You need to make reservations for this glamping-style campsite, which is also a little pricey.
