Mergozzo is an Italian town of 2 141 inhabitants in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola in Piedmont, overlooking the lake of the same name. It is considered the southern gate of the Ossola Valley of which the independent Republic of the same name represented the southern border together with the nearby municipality of Ornavasso.
