A great fairytale castle that suddenly appears in the forest. The castle can be comfortably reached from this location within a few minutes by bike, via the nearby village and a short forest trail. An absolute highlight!
Friedelhausen Castle is located on the Lahn between Marburg and Gießen, near the towns of Fronhausen-Sichertshausen and Lollar-Odenhausen.
The Friedelhausen Castle (New Castle) on the banks of the Lahn was built from 1852 onwards by Baron Adalbert von Nordeck zur Rabenau (1817-1892) and his wife Clara, née Philipps (1826-1867). It was inherited by her daughter Luise (1849–1906), who married Count Karl von Schwerin from Schwerinsburg Castle in Western Pomerania in 1876. The estate, like the Hofgut Appenborn and the two family castles, Nordeck Castle and the Upper Castle Rabenau, still belongs to the Count Schwerin to this day.
In the immediate vicinity of the castle is the Hofgut Friedelhausen, which also belongs to the city of Lollar and is now managed by a socio-therapeutic community as a Demeter business with a farm shop.
