The Upper Danube Nature Park is located in the south of Baden-Württemberg and includes large parts of the districts of Tuttlingen, Sigmaringen, Zollernalb and Biberach. It was founded on December 5, 1980 and is one of a total of seven nature parks in Baden-Württemberg.
The protected area covers 1496 square kilometers along the Danube and its tributaries Bära and Lauchert between Tuttlingen and Herbertingen. It is managed by the registered association of the same name based in Beuron, where the most impressive part of the Danube breakthrough through the Swabian Jura can be hiked.
