With 25 shrimp boats that regularly head to the romantic Greetsiel harbor, we are home to the largest fleet of boats in East Frisia. In addition to the main catch, the crabs, which are actually called garnet, small quantities of flat fish such as plaice, shags and sole are also landed. The historic harbor is over 600 years old.

Here you can breathe history and seafaring romance in a unique environment of charming historic gabled houses and idyllic alleys. And: you enjoy pure sea air!

The Leysiel lock has existed since 1991, separating the fishing port and marina from the open North Sea. Up to eight cutters can pass through here at the same time. This means that the Greetsiel harbor is independent of the tide; ebb and flow “remain outside”. The old Sieltor is over 200 years old and a popular meeting place for Greetsiel guests. The Greetsieler Sieltief flows here.

An absolute highlight on every tour through the Krummhörn. Please use the signposted bicycle parking spaces and do not drive directly to the port. In season it makes the stay easier for everyone.
