At the summit for 1km south there is very good and smooth asphalt (2024), south below there is poor surface for over 5km with some major damage and holes. But it's easy to drive because there is very little traffic and you can use the full width. The further south, the better the asphalt and the wider the road. The asphalt is very rough, >25mm tubeless with correspondingly little pressure makes sense in Morocco. I will be switching from 25 to about 30mm next season.
you might read elsewhere about a very rough tarmac but don't fret, it's not that rough, The long downhill was amazing at sunrise but also fairly cold, have all your layers on at the start if you pan to go down in the morning in Winter 🥶
