The main construction of interest in Tembleque is undoubtedly its Plaza Mayor. Typically Castilian in style, it is an almost square space surrounded by two-story buildings with corridors. The ground floor is porticoed, supported by granite columns.
The open corridors were built to facilitate the view of the markets, festivals and bullfights that were held in the square, bearing a great similarity to the old comedy corrals. In one corner stands a monumental wooden tower, in addition to serving as access from the Plaza de la Orden, it was once the authorities' box.

The porticoed square is spectacular and a very quiet place. It is considered one of the most notable examples of Castilian porticoed squares. The square was built in 1598, following the schemes of baroque art and comedy corrals. Right in one of the arcades is the tourist office where they can explain the history and where you can also visit all the crafts of the place.
