Fanano is an Italian town of 2 944 inhabitants in the province of Modena in Emilia-Romagna, located south of the capital. It is the largest municipality in the Alto Frignano and a large part of its territory is included in the regional park of the Upper Modenese Apennines.
A pretty town in the Modena Apennines, Fanano is a tourist location where it is splendid to spend both winter and summer. The lakes Pratignano and Scaffaiolo, the hamlets of Fellicarolo, Lotta, Ospitale, Serrazzone, Trentino, Trignano and Canavare are located in the municipal territory and is the largest municipality in upper Frignano. Finally, Fanano is linked to the town of Fairbanks, following the emigration to Alaska of one of its citizens, the gold prospector Felice Pedroni, at the end of the nineteenth century.
