Only three of the four round corner towers of the former moated castle have been preserved in a ruinous state. Today the former castle area serves as a sports field for the community.
Story:
Around 1120, the Melk monastery owned a winery in Rihpotenbach, but there was still no talk of a castle. In all probability the castle was built at the end of the 13th or beginning of the 14th century. Due to the proximity to Neulengbach, the lords of Raipoltenbach may have had a vassal relationship with them.
1320 and 1326 Wolfker von Raipoltenbach is mentioned in documents, he probably belonged to the Inprucker family. In 1372 Wernhart the steward of Reichendorf an der Traisen handed over his goods at Rawpatenbach to the Herzogenburg monastery. Around 1500, Raipoltenbach is referred to as the Zirckendorfer Castle.
From 1512, Knight David von Trauttmansdorff was the owner of the estate. In 1541 the Litscher von Ranzenbach family became lords of the castle, but had to return Raipoltenbach to the Trauttmansdorff family in 1566. In 1571 Leopold Khainach acquired the small rule. The next lord of the castle, Andre Thonradl, was outlawed in 1620. Around 1650, Philipp Graf Hardegg came into possession of Raipoltenbach. In 1667 it fell to the Pálffy Counts and was combined with their Neulengbach dominion. In 1683 the castle was probably devastated by Turkish raiders. The final decay was supposedly triggered by imperial soldiers who had stormed a robber's nest here. The castle building and the walls were then used by the population as a quarry. In 1931 the Princes of Liechtenstein sold the Burgstall to the local innkeeper.
