Both a work of art and urban furniture, this creation by Lilian Bourgeat is intended to be "used", the public, ... invited to sit on this "Public Bench", thus "activating" the work, according to the wish of the artist.

Why has a giant bench, made of steel, aluminum and wood (87 x 500 x 60 cm) recently been placed near the “Capitainerie”, at the “Henry Hallet” marina in Jambes? “In order to see Namur differently, after an effort to be able to sit there,” the French artist Lilian Bourgeat confided to us, while her work was presented to the press, this last Friday June 28, in the presence of Maxime Prévot, Mayor of Namur, in charge of Culture, ... who did not hesitate to join two children who had already sat there.

This emblematic interactive work of the “Sculptures in the City” route, this “Public Bench”, installed near the “Capitainerie”, throughout the summer, was acquired by the City of Namur, for an amount of €85,000. It is intended, subsequently, to be transferred to the Jamboise arrival of the “L’Enjambée” cycle-pedestrian bridge. This “Public Bench” will thus highlight a small park adjoining a building witnessing “belle époque” architecture, the “Villa Balat”, whose high gable will be decorated with a “street art” fresco, which will be created by local artist, Demosthenes.
