»A Masquerade«

Class 4a carried out a project on the topic of masks in art class in the 2021/2022 school year. The children first looked at pictures of different masks together and found out about their origins. They found out that people have been using masks since humanity existed. However, they are not only for the fun of dressing up, as they are today, but have also been closely linked to religious customs and rituals over the millennia (which also included the animal world, K.A.).
Inspired by masks from Africa, Latin America, Indonesia and China, ancient Egypt and carnival, the children designed masks and transferred them to clay beaver tails using acrylic paint. They were supported by class parents and teachers on several days.
Once completed, the masks can be admired as a work of art called "A Masquerade" on the newly created butterfly path at Ars Natura (...)
A big thank you goes to all parents and teachers who supported us in our project with time, materials and personal commitment. With this, class 4a ends their time at primary school with something that will (hopefully) last a long time. (D. Göbel, class teacher of 4a)
