The LSG "Estorfer See" lies in the Weser floodplain and consists of two natural nutrient-rich pond waters as remnants of a former Weser course, connected by a ditch. They are accompanied by typical reed beds of nutrient-rich habitats in the field of land-cover.The Estorfer See is surrounded by species of the Weidenauwaldes and on the eastern shore also the Hartholzauenwaldes.

In the landscape conservation area relics of an old Weser course and thus typical structural elements of the flood plain with their function in the natural balance are preserved. Floods regularly make contact with the Weser and influence the development of the two still waters and their species spectrum.

In the area come u. a. the FFH species pond bat and the FFH habitat type "Natural and semi-natural nutrient-rich pond waters with pondweed or frog bite societies".
