Diagonally opposite the old Gollwitz fog signal lighthouse stands the "new" one, unfortunately just a very tall (but not very attractive) steel frame.

The Gollwitz lighthouse itself was in operation for 40 years. Today, the tower still serves as a fog signal.

☝️ Diagonally opposite, a bench under a tree invites you to rest on the beach—a small wooden staircase leading down to the water is also available!

It served as the leading light from 1956 to 1996. In 1996 a major overhaul was carried out.
Due to the local conditions, the Gollwitz-W beacon was erected separately on a 23.4 m high white steel lattice mast a little to the west of the location of the lighthouse when the building was overhauled in 1996. The new location has avoided the impact of trees on the sectors. A belt lens was used as the light source. With the generated light intensity, a range of 7.7 to 6.1 nm is achieved at sigma 0.4 for the white, red and green sectors. An identifier Ubr = 5 seconds (Oc.5s) is shown. The existing Gollwitz-N leading light was replaced by a precision sector light fitted with 220 V / 150 W halogen lamps. With the operating light intensity generated, a range of 8.1 to 6.5 nm is achieved for the narrow white, red and green sectors. A Glt identification with 4 seconds (Iso.4s) is shown.
