Along with the old church, the castle is the oldest building in Wasseralfingen. It goes back to the Knights of Ahelfingen, who built and lived there. In the older documents it is primarily referred to as a “castle” or “fortress”, which suggests that it was initially a defensive structure. As such, it dates back to the early Alemannic period. The school for the speech impaired has been housed in the building since 1992.
