Well, then 2 months after the devastating flood disaster, which also left its damage on the Rur, especially in Wassenberg and the surrounding area, my curiosity and my concern drove me to this river. What I saw today was better than expected. Actually, only here and there residual rubbish in the trees above the river, which sometimes more than 2m above the current level indicates the highest level of the flood at that time, and destroyed peripheral areas in the floodplains on the edge of the Adolfo lake still reminded of the catastrophe. It is hard to believe that there was a single, endless lake here in July when you now see the peaceful river "Rur" in your bed. You are really happy about the small rapids that loosen up the calm picture a bit here and there. The bike paths, even the narrow footpaths that can be used by bike in some of the bank areas, are solid and can be used again without any problems - as if nothing had ever happened ...

Wild noise, great landscape. A very nice place to enjoy. Accessible by bike via a very narrow dirt road. But it's worth it!
