The Museum of Arts and Popular Customs of Seville was created in 1972. It is a state-owned museum managed by the Andalusian Regional Ministry of Culture. Its installation in the Mudéjar Pavilion in the Plaza de América was due to the transfer of use of this building, first partial and then complete, made to the State by the Seville City Council.

The Mudejar Pavilion in the Parque de María Luisa in Seville is a beautiful historic building designed by Aníbal González for the 1929 Ibero-American Exposition. Also known as the Museo de Artes y Costumbres Populares, the building is decorated with colorful azulejos and offers a fascinating insight into the folk art and traditions of Andalusia.
