The pier (actually "Stormwater Outfall Pier" but popularly called Whalebone Pier) officially opened in 2007. The idea behind the pier is to collect rainwater from the surrounding buildings and discharge it into the sea. The pier itself is "only" the cover over the sewage pipes and a design element.
From the pier you have a magnificent view of the beach, the promenade and the sea. Must see!
